ZooBest Alpha Test pH 4 - 9
Water test for determining the pH value in the range from 4.5 to 9.0 - suitable for fresh and salt water.
The pH value is one of the most important water parameters in aquaristics. In short, the pH value is a measure of whether the water is acidic (less than 7), neutral (~7) or alkaline (greater than 7). It is a logarithmic scale, i.e. if the pH value changes by one unit, the acid or base concentration changes by a factor of 10!
Please refer to the literature for information on the optimum pH range for your fish and use the test to check whether these values are achieved. If this is not the case, there are various ways of influencing the pH value. These include
- CO2-addition to lower the pH
- CO2-reduction through aeration to increase the pH value
- Filtration via peat, alder cones, oak bark and other acidic wood and bark
- Increasing the carbonate hardness with Duradrakon KH-Plus (pH increase) or DRAK pH/KH-Minus (pH reduction)
pH test set 4.5 - 9.0 Instructions for use
- Rinse the cuvette several times with the water to be tested and fill with exactly 5 ml of water *
- Add 8 drops of reagent and swirl
- Compare the colour of the sample with the colour table by holding the cuvette close to the colour that appears most similar and looking through the cuvette from above. 1 - 2 cm distance
For good results, use daylight (no direct sunlight).
* The meniscus of the water surface must touch the 10 ml graduation mark exactly
Caution
Clean the cuvette after use, close the reagent bottle tightly and store in a cool, dry place away from light.
Keep out of reach of children!
