PRODACtest pH - Operating range 4.5 - 9.0
Water test for measuring the pH value in the range from 4.5 to 9.0 - suitable for fresh and marine water.
The pH value is one of the most important water parameters in aquaristics. In short, the pH is the scale for whether the water reacts acidically (less than 7), neutrally (~7) or alkaline (greater than 7). It is a logarithmic scale; this means that a change in pH by one unit changes the acid or base concentration by a factor of 10!
Please consult the literature about the optimal pH range for your aquatic species and check with the test whether these values are reached. If not, you have various possibilities to influence the pH. Including:
- CO₂ supply to lower the pH
- CO₂ reduction through aeration to increase pH
- Filtering through peat, alder cones, oak bark and other woods and barks that react acidically
- Change of carbonate hardness by means of Duradrakon KH-Plus (increase pH) or DRAK pH/CH-Minus (decrease pH)
pH test set 4.5 - 9.0 Instructions for use
- Rinse the sample test tube several times with the water to be tested and then fill with sample water exactly to the 5 ml mark *
- Add 1 drops of reagent 1 and shake gently
- Compare the color of the sample with the color card by holding the test tube close to the color that seems most similar to you and looking through the tube from above
For good results, it is best to use daylight (no direct sunlight)
* The meniscus of the water surface has to exactly touch the 5 ml calibration line.
Caution
Clean the vial after use, close the reagent bottle tightly and store in a cool, dry place away from light.
Keep out of reach of children!
