Hardening salt mixture to increase the carbonate hardness and pH
Especially recommended for shrimp, crayfish and East African tanks.
Very economical. Dissolves easily and without clouding.
Dosage
Just 1.5 g / 50 litres of water increases the KH by 1° dH
Application
Together with the CO₂ content of the water, the carbonate hardness determines the resulting pH. These three values have a physical-chemical relationship and are not independent of each other. Using the correct formula, the third value can be calculated from two of these values.
As bacterial protein decomposition (food residues, animal faeces) in the tank produces nitric acid (nitrate formation), the pH and KH are often not stable, especially in heavily stocked tanks. This can be dangerous even at a carbonate hardness below 3 - 4 °dH (acidity drop). You can minimise the risks here by changing the water regularly and sufficiently and reducing the KH with Duradrakon KH-Plus to at least 4 - 5 °dH.
Many of the most popular and best growing aquarium plants do not originate from pure soft water areas. In practice, this means that you often have massive problems with these plants if the KH is not at least 2 - 3 °dH. Unfortunately, this does not always match the needs of a number of beautiful soft water plants that have been imported in recent years. You can try, but as a rule you will only be able to successfully maintain plants from one or the other group in a tank.
Duradrakon KH-Plus, unlike many poorly designed hardening salts, contains not only the cheapest baking soda (sodium hydrogen carbonate), but also potassium salts and sodium and potassium carbonate to stabilise the pH.
This prevents the ion ratio of potassium and sodium from shifting to the detriment of potassium, which would otherwise lead to problems with the osmoregulation of fish and to potassium deficiency symptoms in many plants, especially if a relatively low carbonate hardness is set.
Composition
59.8 % hydrogen carbonate, 21.5 % sodium, 11.4 % potassium, 7.3 % carbonate
Caution
Do not mix directly with GH-Plus-preparations, but dissolve them separately and, if possible, add them one at a time in diluted form so that no turbidity can form in the form of insoluble calcium and magnesium carbonates.
Duradrakon KH-Plus is relatively alkaline in undiluted form and should not come into prolonged contact with the skin or even mucous membranes (eyes!). If in doubt, wash off with plenty of tap water. Dust should also not be inhaled.
Note
A (high) dosage of 10 g/10 litres of water results in an increase in conductivity of approx. 1150 µS/cm.
The conductivity does not behave linearly (especially at higher concentrations), but for lower dosages the resulting conductivity can be calculated arithmetically without too much error.

Also ideal for beginners in hardening!
Since I have to harden my aquarium water, I am very happy with this product. I use KH+ and GH+ (dissolve separately!) and achieve the right values for every tank. The KH+ dissolves easily and quickly in a 10 litre bucket of water by stirring briefly. I have not tested any other product as I trust this one. THANK YOU!

Works perfectly
I get exactly the result I want with the instructions on the pack.
There was a large root here that felt like it was dragging the water values down forever.
No problems. Doesn't dissolve so badly, in my opinion (see instructions for use).
A precision scale is an advantage, but an aquarist should have one in the house. I once bought the following for €15 from the big river:
G&G PC+G 200g/0.01g + test weight

I am thrilled!
It works excellently to give osmosis water the missing carbonate hardness without increasing the conductivity enormously at the same time.

Annoying packaging and measuring spoon must be purchased separately
I have not yet tried the product in practice. However, I noticed 2 unpleasant things as soon as I received the tin.
The completely stable tin was packed in a parcel with lots of styrene. Completely unnecessary.
I would have expected a measuring spoon in the tin. After all, not everyone has scales at home with which you can weigh out a few grams. The fact that the measuring spoon is sold as an extra is a bit cheeky, but it should at least be mentioned in the product description.
