Roots conquer the forest

When designing this aquarium, a friend's photo of a large root forming a kind of subway served as inspiration.

A gorgeous aquascape by Carlo Sette

A great aquascape about 5 months old by Carlo Sette in 120 × 45 × 45 cm, set up with Tropica Soil and lit 8 hours/day with a mix of Twinstar S3 and Juwel Helialux spectrum (LED - 170 W total).

The tank, which is currently almost nine months young, was switched to DRAK almost two months ago. With the fertiliser combination KramerDrak Power and KramerDrak solution as well as good lighting, regular thinning is required.

Hartwig M. from Weil der Stadt has been using Ferrdrakon and KramerDrak for several years now. The picture of the tank presented here dates from 02/2017.

Pogostemon stellatus 'Adelaide River' in Oliver Czech's tank

The usual commercial form of P. stellatus (synonym Eusteralis stellata) tends to die back at the tip of the shoot and become stunted for unknown reasons, even with the best care and the best water values.

The aquarium is absolutely algae-free, at least visually. The plants are really proliferating. Without regular "gardening", the tank would be completely overgrown within a very short time.

Piranhas and beautiful tanks are not mutually exclusive

T.H. from Kreischa has been keeping piranhas (Serrasalmus nattereri) together with other fish for several years. The occupants are guppies, neons (red, black), trunk barbs, signalling catfish, purple splendid perch and crested catfish.
