Spirulina microalgae powder

Unique to Spirulina platensis is its high protein content; the ratio of (essential) amino acids and the high proportion of valuable (unsaturated) fatty acids show the high nutritional value of the algae.
The high carotenoid content (up to 1,700 mg/kg - carrots only have 120 mg/kg) has a positive effect on the colouring of the fish fed with it.
As, unlike higher plants, the cell wall of blue-green algae does not consist of almost indigestible cellulose but of mucopolysaccharides, it is also very easy to digest.

These properties make it very suitable as a food for young fish, as supplementary food for fish of all ages, shrimps and as an addition to your own food mixtures. And because of its high protein content, it is by no means only suitable for (exclusive) herbivores.

Originally native to the soda lakes of the (sub)tropics (not marine algae), it is now cultivated worldwide in the corresponding climate zones in a highly alkaline medium.

Highly recommended

I use it to make my own Caridina food chips. Therefore difficult to rate individually. But everything must be OK, the shrimps/snails find it tasty. Or it's because of the organic peas ;-)

Feeding hints: Self-made Food Sticks

For a long time, I puzzled and experimented, trying to find the simplest way (without making the water cloudy) of feeding spirulina to my prawns.
