Sodium chloride or table salt-free sea salt
Component A for dosing calcium and carbonate hardness according to the balling method.
Contains all the trace elements that sea salt also contains.
Also very suitable for trace element supply and hardening in fresh water.
Application
"Normal" sea salt contains almost 78 % common salt as its main component. As calcium chloride and sodium hydrogen carbonate are used to harden seawater aquariums using the Balling method, a large amount of common salt is added in addition to calcium, the proportion of sea salt that is not common salt is missing. Sealutions Mineral salt provides the third component that ensures a balanced ion balance in the Balling method.
Due to its high magnesium, mineral and trace element content, Sealutions mineral salt is of course also ideal for hardening and mineralising fresh water. In contrast, the use of sea salt, which is also often recommended for this purpose, has clear disadvantages. The high table salt content (~ 78 %) does not contribute to hardening, but only increases the conductivity and shifts the ratios of the ion pairs sodium/potassium and chloride/sulphate into a range to which very few freshwater inhabitants are physiologically adapted.
In short, this only causes problems that can easily be avoided by using Sealutions mineral salt.
Dosage
Hardening and mineralisation in fresh water
Sealutions Mineral salt dissolved in UO water gives approximately the following values:
| Concentration | 0.5 g/l | 10 g/l |
| Conductivity | 645 µS/cm | 8.9 mS/cm |
Balling method for adding calcium to a saltwater aquarium
| 147 g | Sealutions Calcium chloride dihydrate |
| 168 g | Sealutions Sodium hydrogen carbonate |
| 50 g | Sealutions mineral salt |
dissolve completely in 2 litres of water. Maintain the carbonate hardness in the range of 9 - 11° dH by adding equal amounts of each of the three solutions daily. Experience has shown that for a 300 litre reef tank you will initially need just under 100 ml of each solution per day. Depending on the need, the daily dose must be increased or reduced slightly in the following period in order to remain within the desired target KH range.
The calcium requirement and therefore the consumption of the three solutions is based on not evaporation, but on the biologically active stocking of the aquarium.
Instructions for use
The following instructions are helpful when dissolving Sealutions mineral salt:
Please add the main quantity of water and dissolve the mineral salt in portions while stirring vigorously.
If, on the other hand, you add the salt and water, especially in smaller portions, slightly insoluble carbonates will form due to local concentration peaks, which will not dissolve easily even after a longer period of time. The supernatant solution can be used or, in fresh water, the sediment can simply be added to the tank, where it usually dissolves quickly.
Composition
27.1 % chloride, 26.3 % sulphate, 12.9 % magnesium, 4.2 % calcium, 3.9 % potassium, 1.5 % carbonate, 0.7 % bromide, 0.1 % strontium, traces (boron, fluoride, iodide, sodium), remainder: crystal water

I use it from time to time
I use it from time to time in freshwater aquariums to add essential elements that are depleted.

Excellent product
One of the best mineral salts I have ever used.
It dissolves very well, contains relatively little chloride and is clearly labelled.
I also have the impression that my fish and plants feel better since I have been using it!
The only drawback:
It would be great if a 500 g tin was also available, a 1 kg tin is quite a lot, I prefer to buy smaller containers.
Nevertheless, a clear recommendation to buy!

Unfortunately not as good as it used to be
So far I have always been very satisfied with this mineral salt. Unfortunately, the composition has changed so that it no longer dissolves so well. Unfortunately, I am no longer so happy with it.

Very good salt
Top mineral salt with very good solubility.
I use it as an additional source of trace elements in my aquariums and am very satisfied.
The salt dissolves quickly and as the ingredients are listed, you know what you are adding.

Fast delivery, top product, ...
Fast delivery, goods top, if required again at any time.
Salt is very fine, does not clump together, dissolves quickly.
I have not found a cheaper hardening salt for Malawi tanks.
