The leaves of the white mulberry(Morus alba) are used to breed the silkworm, among other things, and were therefore introduced and planted in many places in Europe in an attempt to establish European silk production.
The untreated, dried and natural leaves from organic cultivation are an excellent addition to the diet of shrimps, crabs and loricariid catfish. In addition to their ideal suitability as supplementary feed, they also have a creative and decorative character.
Mulberry leaves contain large amounts of minerals, fibre and vitamins and can therefore help to prevent moulting problems. They also have a preventative effect against bacterial diseases.
The tender leaves are readily accepted by shrimps and crayfish as well as bottom-dwelling fish (e.g. loricariid catfish). The leaves are a welcome change in the diet as they are quite high in protein for leaves with 15 - 25 % protein in the dry matter.
We recommend briefly scalding the leaves before use, as this breaks up the cell structure, the leaves sink to the bottom faster and are accepted more quickly.
Dosage
1 leaf per 10 litres of water. 3 leaves for 60 litres of water.
