A refractometer is a precision optical instrument for the exact determination of the optical density or refractive index of a liquid.
As the refractive index of salt water is directly dependent on the salt content of the solution, a refractometer is therefore ideal for measuring the salt content in seawater aquariums quickly and, above all, accurately.
The salt concentration is determined in seconds with just a few drops of water. It can be read either as absolute salt content (salinity) in per mille (‰, ppt) or as relative density (kg/l compared to water at 20 °C).
In principle, a refractometer is always much more accurate and mechanically much less sensitive than an aerometer.
Scope of delivery
Salinity refractometer, 1 small bottle of dist. Water, 1 pipette for applying the water drop, 1 screwdriver for calibration, 1 soft cloth, operating instructions (DE/EN), sturdy plastic box
