Natural caves made by hand from 100% black alder in various sizes and designs.
Ideal for many protection-seeking fish, in particular but not only for many loricariids (L-catfish), especially those species that absolutely need (soft) wood as food, such as the Panaque species.
The caves serve as a hiding place and at the same time as a food source.

Tip: Please water for 1 - 2 days before use until the caves sink.

Unfortunately not that easy

I soaked several caves for a week after they were still floating on the surface, weighted them down with stones for a week so that they were submerged, and even now, after more than 14 days, they are still floating on the surface of the water, and the catfish would be happy if they could reach them more easily.

Our feedback: This is the natural behaviour of dry wood. This cannot be easily circumvented by us as suppliers. Perhaps boiling water would speed up the process. It would at least be worth a try.
