- Ideal for tropical aquarium fish

- Particularly suitable for nano tanks due to their small size
The black alder (Alnus glutinosa) is a tree up to 25 metres tall with black bark that can be found along ditches, streams and riverbanks. Its woody fruit stems, which are rich in humic substances and acids, have been used for decades in aquariums to enrich breeding stock with humic substances or to reduce hardness. The strong brown colouration of the water that occurs in the process is quite helpful, depending on the intended use.
If, for various reasons, you do not wish to have the alder cones, which are quite decorative in themselves, in your aquarium, you can prepare an alder extract in advance.
Application
Add approx. 4 - 6 alder cones per 100 litres of aquarium water directly into the aquarium
Repeat application every 2 weeks and after every water change
When stored in a dry place, the alder cones will keep indefinitely

For Trigonostigma espei & hengeli
My Trigonostigma Espei and Hengeli, a total of 143 animals (counted when emptying the tank) in the 300 L tank like these humic substances, show beautiful colours and reproduce, the shoal has become very large, initially there were only 20 animals.
I only use Drak products in the tank, from the substrate (pool filter sand 0.7-1.2 with Terrdrakon) to the fertiliser/hardening.

Used for humic acidification/production
However, I only got benzoic acid from the pharmacy to make extracts. It fulfils its purpose as a preservative and I am satisfied.
