Catappa bark pieces XL
1 XL sea almond tree tube - natural decoration for aquarium and terrarium
Diameter: 1.5 - 2.5 cm
Length: 12 - 15 cm
Catappa Bark Pieces XL are a purely natural product. The mild tannins of the sea almond bark have an astringent effect and thus prevent bacteria and fungi from easily penetrating the mucous membranes of the fish.
In many soft tropical waters, the low (acidic) pH value is usually not caused by large quantities of CO₂, but by humic and tannic acids. It is known that such waters are extremely low in germs as a result. For some fish, these substances are even a prerequisite for successful reproduction.
We recommend rinsing the bark briefly with hot water before use. For the strongest possible effect, place the pieces in the aquarium immediately. If a milder effect is desired, we recommend soaking for several hours to a day.
The sea almond bark will sink to the bottom after a few hours. Any slight initial cloudiness is natural and completely harmless. It will disappear after a short time.
If you use other products containing tannins, such as sea almond tree leaves, please take this into account when dosing.
The tannins are largely released after approx. 3 weeks. The bark can now be replaced or left permanently in the aquarium as decoration.
