Clay caves for loricariid catfish and cichlids

Clay caves, spawning tubes and shelters made of fired clay for loricariid catfish and cichlids, handmade in Germany by Aqua Keramik. They serve as hiding places, spawning grounds and nurseries.

Each Clay cave, spawning tube or shelter handmade in Germany by Aqua Keramik is a unique, handcrafted item made of fired clay for loricariid catfish and cichlids. All Clay caves have been tested in cooperation with breeders of loricariid catfish and cichlids and are therefore precisely matched to the different species (please refer to the information on the individual spawning tube types).

Many loricariids or loricariids are cave breeders. In some cases, very specific requirements are placed on the size and design of the cave in question, depending on the species:

  • open tubes on both sides
  • tubes open on one side
  • Tubes with a side entrance
  • Tubes with a central side entrance

in different diameters and lengths.

Many of the tubes are also accepted by cichlids. However, the majority of dwarf cichlids prefer shelters in the form of a more or less flat or curved, coconut-like shelter.
