Phenol
obsolete: Carbolic acid
Disinfectant for antiseptic wound treatment, gross and room disinfection.
Due to their good bactericidal and fungicidal effect as a protoplasmic poison, phenol derivatives were of great importance for disinfection and as an antiparasitic treatment against Argulus (fish louse) and Piscicola (fish fluke) in the fishing industry [Wilhelm Schäperclaus, Fischkrankheiten, Akademie-Verlag Berlin, 1990].
