With all IKS measuring and control computers, the stored data can be transferred from the AquaStar to the computer via the serial interface for evaluation. The Datastar auxiliary programme can simplify the process considerably.

With all IKS measuring and control computers, the stored data can be transferred from the AquaStar to the computer via the serial interface for evaluation. The auxiliary programme Datastar can simplify this considerably.

The data structure has the following structure (example):

The first values are the date and time, followed by the slots in the order from 1 to 8.

From version 2 of the device, updates of the iksAquaStar firmware are also offered on the web for downloading and installation. To do this, you need an appropriately prefabricated cable, which you can either order directly from IKS or make yourself.
The manual for version 1 still contained instructions on how to make the cable; after various DIY users had problems with their self-made cable, IKS removed the relevant section from the manual for the new version.

For the computer side you need a 9-pin SubD connector, for the AquaStar side a 6-pin mini-DIN connector (e.g. from Conrad, order numbers: Mini-DIN plug: 73 20 36-66; Sub-D: socket connector: 74 20 82-66; housing: 71 12 84-66; only cent amounts in each case). Only 3 lines are required for the actual connection, so that a cheap unshielded telephone cable can also be used (at the given data transmission rate of 9,600 bps, this works excellently and without errors even at a length of 15 metres).
